WRITING: On a self-imposed vacation until the first of June. Going to take Memorial Day off and the wife and I are going to Tulsa the week after. Besides reading the first draft of a novel and making notes, I plan on putting as few words as possible together in a row to make sentences until next month.
TV and MOVIES: Terminator: Salvation tomorrow. Looking forward to it, but the word of mouth has been largely negative - except from my friend Phil, who shares my taste in movies and is a huge Terminator fan: he loved it. Guess we'll find out tomorrow.
The game group is coming over on Memorial Day to watch the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy. Between working that day and finishing my comments on a peer's first draft, I'm probably not going to watch too much of it with them. We'll see.
GAMES: Punch-Out!! Lots and lots of Punch-Out!! On the title bouts now, where you fight each character again with all new - and much harder - moves. Getting the shit kicked out of you by Glass Joe - even on the game's "hard" mode - is simply embarrassing. You know that dream you have where you're sitting in some class and all of sudden you're naked and all the girls turn and laugh at your wiener? You know how you wake up feeling all humiliated? Being beat by Glass Joe is worse.
That being said, the new Punch-Out!! is exactly what I wanted and hoped for. It simultaneously delivers tons of nostalgia while feeling like a very new and different game. You're going to get your money's worth with this one.
BOOKS: Still haven't settled on a book. Going to take the entire Bone collection with me to Tulsa.
